The Site Agent is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and management of construction activities on site to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Management
Interpret project designs, drawings, and specifications.
Prepare site work programmes, schedules, and resource plans.
Coordinate daily site operations and ensure smooth workflow among teams.
Monitor project progress and prepare regular status reports.
2. Site Supervision and Coordination
Supervise subcontractors, artisans, and laborers on site.
Ensure that work is performed according to construction plans, standards, and regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor safety, quality, and productivity.
Liaise with project stakeholders including engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, and clients.
3. Quality Control and Compliance
Implement quality assurance and control procedures.
Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
Maintain compliance with environmental and statutory requirements.
4. Resource and Cost Management
Manage materials, equipment, and manpower efficiently.
Oversee procurement of materials and verify deliveries against project requirements.
Control site costs and assist with project budgeting and cost reporting.
5. Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, timesheets, and material usage logs.
Compile and submit progress reports, variation orders, and as-built documentation.
Attend and contribute to site meetings with stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
B-Tech or Bachelor's Degree (NQF Level 7) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or related Built Environment field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years post-graduation experience in a construction, infrastructure, or building environment.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong technical and project management skills
Good leadership and communication abilities
Knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JBCC, GCC, NEC)
Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite
Understanding of OHS and quality management systems
