A reputable firm based in Krugersdorp requires a Short-Term Insurance Underwriter: DUTIES:
Evaluate insurance applications for sectional title schemes by analysing building structures, occupancy, construction materials, security measures, and historical claims
Determine risk exposure for common property, shared facilities, and individual sections within the scheme
Apply underwriting guidelines to accept, decline, or modify cover based on risk appetite
Calculate premiums, excess structures, and rating adjustments in line with scheme-specific risk factors
Conduct portfolio reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with underwriting standards
Prepare and issue quotations, policy schedules, endorsements, and renewal documentation for sectional title clients
Ensure cover aligns with the Sectional Titles Schemes Management Act, prescribed minimum insurance requirements, and body corporate obligations
Structure cover for buildings, common property, liability, trustees indemnity, fidelity, geysers, and additional optional benefits
Liaise with brokers, managing agents, trustees, and body corporates to clarify requirements, gather information, and negotiate terms
Provide technical guidance on cover options, exclusions, and regulatory requirements
Support brokers with accurate, timely quotations and underwriting decisions
Review claims trends within schemes to identify adverse patterns and recommend corrective action
Collaborate with claims teams to validate cover, assess risk implications, and ensure claims fall within underwriting parameters
Recommend riskmitigation measures such as maintenance plans, security upgrades, and compliance improvements
Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with FAIS, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), and internal governance frameworks
Maintain accurate records and auditready documentation for all underwriting activities
Monitor changes in legislation affecting sectional title insurance and adjust underwriting practices accordingly
Manage a portfolio of sectional title schemes, ensuring profitability and sustainable risk exposure
Analyse loss ratios, premium adequacy, and scheme performance to support renewal decisions
Prepare underwriting reports, risk summaries, and recommendations for management review

Senior certificate Grade 12
RE 5
Full short term insurance qualification NOF level 4
COB 1 and 2
minimum of 4 years experience
