Job Description
A well established company based in Centurion, requires a Short-Term Underwriter
DUTIES:
- Assess and evaluate insurance applications to determine risk exposure
- Apply underwriting guidelines to approve, decline, or modify coverage terms
- Prepare and issue quotations, policies, endorsements, and renewals
- Liaise with brokers and clients to clarify documentation and negotiate terms
- Ensure compliance with FAIS, POPIA, and internal governance standards
- Maintain accurate records and support internal audits and reporting
- Analyze claims trends and underwriting data to refine pricing models
- Recommend improvements to underwriting criteria and operational workflows
- Manage policy amendments, cancellations, and retention strategies
- Provide technical advice and respond to underwriting queries
- Fully computer literate (Strong Excel Skills)
- Knowledge of SIS Insurers platform and working relationship with them would be benificial
- RE1 Qualification Advantageous
- Product training and Knowledge on our key agencies SIS, Osprey, Santan
- Key Knowledge & excellent skills domestic, commercial, HCV & GIT underwriting
- Skillful in Quote comparisons
- Experience in Compliance (RE5 qualification)
