The Shop Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting in day-to-day store operations, and ensuring the store is clean, well-stocked, and organized. This role requires product knowledge in computers and accessories, the ability to assist customers in finding suitable products, and supporting sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Service & Sales
Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Assist customers with product selection, providing accurate information on features, specifications, and prices.
Upsell and cross-sell related products to maximize sales.
Handle customer queries, complaints, and returns in line with company policy.
2. Product Knowledge
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all computer hardware, software, and accessories sold in-store.
Stay informed about promotions, warranties, and financing options.
3. Store Operations
Assist with stock receiving, unpacking, and merchandising.
Ensure shelves and displays are clean, organized, and fully stocked.
Price label all products accurately.
Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, process payments, and issue receipts.
4. Housekeeping & Compliance
Maintain store cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Comply with all health, safety, and company operational procedures.
Protect company assets by preventing theft, damage, and stock loss.
5. Team Support
Work closely with colleagues to achieve store sales targets.
Participate in stock counts and inventory control activities.
Assist in setting up promotions and in-store displays.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year retail experience (preferably in electronics or computer retail).
Experience in customer service and POS systems is advantageous.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Basic computer literacy (Microsoft, email, Fincon).
Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and accessories preferred.
