A shift electrician is a qualified tradesperson responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems and equipment in a factory or industrial setting during a specific work shift. This role requires working outside of standard daytime hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends, often on a rotating schedule within the Durban facility according to the agreed requirements.

Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric) and Electrical/Instrumentation/Millwright Trade Test)
5 years' experience in manufacturing environment
Have experience, skill and ability to fault find.
Have above average knowledge of engineering practice and standards
Able to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions in urgent breakdown situations.
Have a high level of teamwork and good communication skills.
A Millwright Qualification would be highly advantageous with specialist abilities on Yokogawa DCS also considered advantageous.
Duties & Responsibilities
Peruse production logbook and consult with production of any problems that require immediate attention.
Monitor levels, temperatures, flows, vibrations, and noises on running machinery and equipment.
Conclude where there are problems and conduct any repairs required.
On completion of repairs the equipment/machinery must be evaluated before handover to production.
By removing, dismantling, replacement of components, assembly and replacing worn/broken machinery/equipment safely in the quickest time and ensuring optimum plant availability.
All work carried out must be to company standards.
Breakdowns occur primary response and fault finding must be carried out in the quickest possible time.
On completion of repairs the equipment/machinery must be tested before handover to production
Thorough sampling lubrication and monitoring temperatures and vibrations and recording all details.
Making appropriate conclusions regarding the conclusion of the equipment/machinery so that the planned maintenance can be carried out on it.
Physically lubricate machinery/equipment with the required amount and correct lubrication medium.
Observe water colour and growth of algae and liaise with chemical agent ensuring that the water treatment is correct and sufficient.
Ensure that the lifting equipment is safe and in working order and is properly and safely attached and that equipment can take the load.
Ensure that safe practice is applied during lifting and moving heavy loads.
Ensuring all documentation is kept up to date.
Ensure all mechanical and electrical drawings are latest and up to date.
Redline drawings are redrawn and filed correctly.
Equipment documentation is up to date and easily available for all maintenance staff.
Keep special tool and equipment clean and well maintained.
Report any damaged tools to the manger for replacement or repairs.
