Job Description

Overview




To implement and monitor compliance to BME's SHERQ Management Systems, programs, entailing process monitoring, auditing and legal compliance aspects, training, and reporting in order to embed a SHERQ culture within BME. The area of responsibility will be Manufacturing Sites

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, chemistry, safety or equivalent

Advantageous Requirements




Process Safety Certificate

Experience



5 years demonstrated experience in SHERQ management in a mining/explosives or Manufacturing environment 3 years demonstrated experience in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 3 years demonstrated experience in people management

Advantageous Requirements




2 years demonstrated experience in SHERQ management systems Prior experience in Mining Operations non-negotiable

Duties



Core Deliverables




Achieved and improved operations SHERQ objectives




To assist in the development and implementation of a strategy to shape the SHERQ function within the various sites, and work closely with the site management team to deliver the SHERQ strategy and drive a SHERQ and continuous improvement culture To implement and monitor the various SHE management programs in line with BME's strategy and safety objectives (RCR). To assist in maintaining BME's ISO accreditation.

Prevented/mitigated SHERQ risks and incidents




To assist in disseminating and communicating SHE initiatives, SHE information, and performance to business. To identify training needs, and ensure compliance with SHERQ related legislation, policies and procedures. To identify, develop and implement occupational wellness programs in accordance with the needs and risks identified To identify and effectively manage risks to ensure zero harm.

Implemented SHERQ frameworks to ensure continuous compliance




To verify data received; to conduct analysis and identify trends in order to compile the SHE reports as per the legal and company requirements

To recommend and implement initiatives in alignment with BME's strategic objectives to drive safety performance metrics, continuous improvement, and a SHERQ culture. To effectively manage the required SHE budget in accordance to the SHE parameters established for the respective area(s).

Enabled SHERQ Officers




To continuously develop skillsets of SHERQ Officers and the rest of the employees through mentoring and technical training and demonstrate the SHERQ's team's ability to make significant contribution to the business.

Operations enhanced SHERQ internal and external stakeholder relations




To build effective relationships with relevant external stakeholders to deliver on the mandate of the role.
