Arrive at work at the prescribed times (7:00 t0 16:30 Monday to Friday), correctly attired with all the appropriate personal protective equipment
Present daily or weekly departmental toolbox talks and other meetings conducted within the department
Oversees checks on truck safety equipment and Tyre checks checking the prescribed checklist that the yard supervisor fills
Oversees weekly and quarterly PPE checks on all personnel and replaces whatever PPE that needs to be replaced. Ensures that all PPE are in a good state of wear
Conducts job observations on all personnel. Standard is one job observation per task per month
Ensures that customer inductions, all safety training requirements (internal and external) for employees e.g. crane training, tail lift, firefighting, medicals for employees etc are updated
Provides safety training and talks, with the assistance of the yard supervisor, during the safety meeting which is normally held on Monday mornings
Conducts weekly tracking of vehicles and provides reports during the Monday meetings. Reports must be obtained from the Tracker website and downloaded onto an excel spreadsheet. Items to be reported are speeding, excessive time spent on customer sites, routes taken etc
Oversees the replenishment of spill equipment on all trucks
Regularly reviews risks associated with all types of work done by all personnel by conducting risk assessments and then updates risk registers
Conducts spot audits of the repack activity once or twice per week
Conducts weekly safety audits in the warehouse, loading areas and other areas and reports any findings to the Operations Manager
Conducts Weekly rack audits in the warehouse
Conducts daily checks on all delivery crew, equipment, spill kits and trucks before they depart for deliveries
Oversees the quarterly inspection of racks using a 3rd party service provider
Creates and updates vehicle safety files as and when required
Conducts regular safety audits on delivery crew on customer sites. Pre-arranges audits with the rep or customer
Ensures all company and legal safety requirements are adhered to at all times by all personnel. Reports any non-conformances to the Operations Manager
Prepares daily, weekly and monthly reports as required by the Manager or any of the company directors
Ensure training matrix is completed and sent to the Manager and Director weekly.
Oversees the planning of annual driver and assistant inductions at certain customer sites 1 month prior to expiry dates.
Ensures all annual medical assessments are done timeously
Accountable for all risk assessments and registers, letter of appointments and training for Gauteng, East London, Port Elizabeth, Welkom, Cape Town and Durban.
Co-ordinate all training in E.L, P.E, Gauteng, Durban, Cape Town and Welkom.
Adhere to all reasonable requests
Is responsible for reviewing and updating all company procedures and policies on an annual basis or when conditions change
Maintains company SQAS , ISO and RTMS accreditations
Minimum requirements
Matric / Grade 12
Must be fluent in English
Must be computer literate
Must be able to work in and out of the office environment
Applicable Diploma and/or a relevant NQF SHE qualification.
Minimum 5 years experience in similar role.
