Matric certificate (Grade 12) or N3 equivalent
National Diploma or NQF Level 6 in Environmental Management, Safety, or related field
Advantageous: Safety Certificate, Risk Assessor, Incident Investigator Certificates
Experience:
Minimum 3 years related experience as an SHEQ Officer

Key Responsibilities:
The Site SHEQ Officer will report directly to the Contractor's Site Manager daily and is responsible for:
Acting as both the Site Supervisor and SHEQ Officer.
Facilitating multi-functional disciplinary work groups to compile risk-specific Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental risk assessments and audits.
Implementing, enhancing, and maintaining occupational safety, health, and environmental programs in line with legal requirements, ISO, OHSAS, and best practices.
Analyzing business unit needs regarding environmental and occupational hygiene risks and implementing control measures.
Developing and conducting safety, health, and environmental audits.
Compiling accurate projections of integrated safety risks and ensuring legislative and business risks from accidents are managed.
Advising on the implementation and evaluation of risk management processes and projects.
Conducting quality inspections, audits, evaluations, and monitoring to ensure high standards of work.
Developing, implementing, and monitoring safety, hygiene, and environmental standards and procedures.
Correcting unsafe acts or conditions immediately through the regular line of authority.
Maintaining awareness of active and developing site situations.
Compiling monthly environmental and safety reports and submitting them to the Service Manager or Employer's representative.
Attending statutory meetings and performing additional duties as instructed by the Employer.
Scheduling meetings and following up on appointments as required.
Arranging yearly periodic medicals for the site crew and ensuring all gate access permits are valid.
Ensuring all personnel receive the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the right sizes, maintaining records of issuance in the site safety file.
