Purpose of Job

To carry out examinations and enable the implementation of controls and recommend improvement of procedures to build a culture of safety in the workplace.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

Act as a technical signatory, ensuring that Sasols Department of Labour (DOL) certified Approved Inspection Authority (AIA) represents an advisor and strategist regarding national statutory requirements and international trends.
Ensure overall control of all regulated aspects of an AIA and report directly to the DOL on all occupational exposure excursions for record keeping and potential investigation on behalf of Sasol clients.
Liaise with local and national authorities on Occupational Hygiene issues in alignment with Sasol Chemical Industries' core business, and guarantee responsible decision making with regard to individual and collective workplace.
Identify exposure risks to ensure that the workplace does not infringe ill health on employees.
Ensure that individual specialists and collective team work output in occupational hygiene is continuously reviewed, adjusted, and managed amongst geographical applications to sustain an aligned quality assured hygiene service.
Implement the SHE risk-based approach to manage key SHE undesirable events and SHE risk controls relevant to this role.
Plan, coordinate, and report on medical surveillance programme and findings.
Deliver in time and cost effective health programme.
Adhere to quality management systems.
Maintain cost awareness and control.
Monitor referring and following up on patients.
Ensure proper and timely treatment and management of occupational injuries/diseases.
Coordinate medical surveillance scheduling.
Handle case management of COID claims.
Continuously verify that work and health programmes meet business requirements, demands, and objectives.
Execute medical surveillance scheduling programme for all Sasol BU's in region.
Translate medical surveillance scheduling programme and service delivery specifications into team and individual priorities.
Execute programmes in accordance to SHE policies and statutory requirements.
Compile progress reports.
Identify problems to effectively refer and implement solutions based on recommendations.
Participate in the implementation of corrective and remedial actions.
Support Sasol to retain OSAS 18001 certification with regards to occupational medicine matters.
Participate in appropriate governance and SHE professional forums
Participate in annual team culture and client satisfaction surveys.
Assistance of pensioners to facilitate accurate COID reporting of occupational diseases(where relevant).
Identify and manage interventions to address non-conformances to medical surveillance scheduling.
Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable the achievement of operational excellence.
Continuously improve own skills and knowledge. Complete, implement, and track personal development plan to attain personal performance goals.

Post School Tertiary Diploma (South Africa / Eurasia)
