Join Lactalis at our Bonnievale Plant as a SHE Officer. This role primarily involves overseeing Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental concerns, Safety Training, and Security at the Plant. Successful candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment, including at least 3 years in Security within an industrial or manufacturing setting, preferably in the FMCG sector. Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of project planning and execution, as well as budget
management. Adherence to all Safety & Health policies, procedures, and legislation is essential. Fluency in English and computer literacy are required.
Required Skills
A National Diploma/Degree or any related qualification in Safety Management.
Proof of completed training in the following will be advantageous: SAMTRAC, ITIS, SCAT (Incident Investigation), HIRA, HACCP, SHE Rep, First Aid, Fire Fighting -- or at least a working knowledge of these areas.
At least 3 year's experiences within the fields of Occupational Health and Safety, Training and gained in
an industrial or manufacturing environment
The following abilities: to act independently, investigative and auditing, research, to understand and interpret legislation, to lead and supervise a team of SHE representatives and Incident Investigators.
The following skills: negotiation, communication, facilitation, presentation
Extensive knowledge of plant operations and layout
literate in MS Office
Have a valid Code 08 driver's license for travel purposes between plants
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensuring that all legal documentation is maintained up to date and available
All SHE training requirements are satisfied, whether the training is done internally or externally
Liaise with all role-players to ensure that communication with regards to SHE concerns and issues are identified and addressed within suitable timeframes
Required to act as support during safety meetings and will play an active role in conducting presentations to management and staff
Ensure that monthly safety communication is done timeously
Actively participate in ensuring that Risk Assessment documentation is brought up to date for the
relevant facilities
Familiarizes themselves with the requirements of the Corporate Guideline and its requirements and will
work towards ensuring that all role-players are aware of their responsibilities in terms of this system
Ensure that contractors comply with ALL requirements of the Contraction Regulations
Ensure that Induction, Safety training and medical surveillance records are available and up to date
Compile and evaluate injury statistics using set formulas and must be able to present this info to
management
Communicate and deal effectively with external service providers and regulatory authorities
Investigate incidents in conjunction with plant managers and must be able to make recommendations on
corrective action
Successful candidate will be expected to conduct internal Audits in line with the job function.
Actively participate in the Loss Prevention Program and Property Protection Program.
Supervise and direct the contract security on site.
Work in conjunction with the Head Office Risk Management Team
