Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
$1 150 $1 725 USA Dollars a month + Single person Accommodation provided +Meals + Two trips home annually + Annual performance bonus depending on company performance
Contract 23 year renewable contracts / work permits handled by the company
A well-established manufacturer within the packaging and industrial sector is seeking a skilled SHE Manager to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance at their production facility. The role focuses on maintaining a culture of safety through effective training, communication, and operational oversight
The successful Candidate will be responsible for enforcing safety protocols in the plant, conducting new employee orientations, performing housekeeping audits, and ensuring adherence to machine operating instructions with a strong Safety First mandate. This is an on-site role requiring a proactive and hands-on approach to safety leadership within a busy manufacturing environment
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field
Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment (preferably heavy industry or packaging)
Proven ability to implement SHE systems and conduct workplace audits
Sound knowledge of African industrial safety regulations and standards
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to engage at all staff levels
Comfortable living and working in a remote plant location
Communication fluency essential; French or Portuguese an advantage
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain the plants SHE strategy under a Safety First policy
Conduct orientation and induction training for all new employees and contractors
Carry out regular housekeeping and safety audits, maintaining records and corrective actions
Monitor compliance with machine operating instructions and safety standards
Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective/preventive measures
Lead investigations into accidents and near-miss incidents, track and close out findings
Facilitate ongoing communication through toolbox talks, safety bulletins, and signage
Ensure all PPE and safety equipment are maintained and correctly utilised
Track and report monthly safety KPIs to management
Liaise with external regulators, audit bodies, and insurance assessors to ensure compliance
