Their main duties include service and repairs on all make of trailer's suspensions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Service and repairs on all make of trailer's suspensions.
Ensure trailer is roadworthy at all times and in a good working condition.
Fault finding on running gear, suspensions, breaks and axels.
Brake test after all brake overhauls.
Repair and rewiring of ABS units.
Repair and replacement of ABS wiring and sensors.
Able to install lift axel kits and valves
Check and report on all air pipes, wires, fittings and couplings.
Prepare condition reports on air and mechanical suspensions.
Check and inspection on all cross beams and floors with entry plates.
Good sense of electrical system 12v and 24v.
Knowledge of diagnostic systems to determine issues.
Check and report on apron plate and kingpins.
Able to set breaks, slack adjusters, ride height and levelling valves.
Check and report on landing leg support and landing legs.
Repair and rewiring of EBS wiring.
Axle report to be measured and completed.
Pre inspection reports on trailer/suspension damages.
Apply SHEQ rules and regulations as prescribed by company policy and procedures.
Administrating and regular reporting to management regarding breakdowns, repairs and services.
Responsible for E.O.L on trailers.
Set and adjustment of wheel alignment on all suspensions.
Check and report of 5th wheel and rubbing plate condition.
Ensure job cards is completed as per company policy and procedures with all supporting documentation.
Minor welding repairs.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Matric (essential)
BPW/Knorr/WABCO/JOST training certificate (Beneficial)
