London-based team (remote-friendly with an easy commute to Stellenbosch, Cape Town)

Urang manages Residential and Commercial blocks across London and continues to expand due to recommendations from satisfied clients and lessees. We also provide property management services for landlords who let their properties.

We are currently seeking a Service Charge Accounts Team Leader looking for career development to join our finance team based in London. You will lead a team comprising Service Charge Accountants, Credit Controllers, Accounts Administrators, Accounts Payables and Receivables, and Property Managers, reporting directly to the Head of Service Charge Accounts.
The ideal candidate will have extensive property industry experience and deep knowledge of service charge accounting.
Responsibilities:
Manage teams of Service Charge Accountants
Assist the client accounts team with complex service charge queries
Oversee team growth, training, and recruitment within the client accounts department
Develop and improve structures and processes within the client accounts team
Prepare accruals, prepayments, and trial balances
Produce annual leasehold and company accounts in accordance with ACCA and ICAEW guidelines
Liaise with external accountants and auditors during audits
Communicate regularly with clients and property managers to ensure accurate cost allocation and resolve financial queries
Manage year-end surplus/deficit charges on lessee accounts
Perform bank account reconciliations
Issue service charge and ground demands
Monitor and manage accounts payable/receivable, including supplier invoices and incoming cheques
Address unpaid supplier invoices held due to insufficient funds
Assist Credit Controllers with arrears chasing
Produce draft budgets including 10-year plans and process approved budgets
Process supplier invoices
Requirements:
Extensive experience in service charge accounts
Degree-level education and a professional qualification (SAICA or equivalent)
Experience managing teams and developing internal structures and processes
Strong communication and technical skills
Good knowledge of property accounting systems and advanced MS Excel and Word skills
Background in property accounting
Ability to meet tight deadlines with strong attention to detail
Salary and Benefits:
R35,000 - R38,000 per month (depending on experience)
15 days annual leave (plus South African public holidays)
Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 18:00 (SA time)
Hybrid work arrangement with occasional visits to Stellenbosch
Please Note:
This is a hybrid position. Applicants should be based in the Cape Town/Winelands area or nearby, with the ability to attend occasional in-person meetings in Stellenbosch. A stable internet connection is essential, particularly during load shedding.
