Overview

We are looking for a

Senior Workday Financials Architect

to join a Finance Technology team responsible for the

technical ownership, architecture, and delivery of enterprise finance platforms

in a high-growth, global environment.

This role sits at the intersection of

Workday Financials architecture, finance transformation, and technical leadership

. You will lead the design and delivery of complex initiatives across

Workday Financials and Workday Adaptive Planning

, while providing strategic Application Management Support (AMS) and mentoring other engineers within the team.

Key ResponsibilitiesWorkday Architecture & Technical Leadership

Act as the

technical authority for Workday Financials

, including

Adaptive Planning

, across the finance technology landscape. Lead the

design, configuration, and implementation of complex Workday Financials solutions

, ensuring scalability, resilience, and alignment with finance operating models. Own architectural decisions, including

integration patterns, data flows, and security models

, articulating trade-offs and long-term implications.

Application Management Support (AMS) - Senior Ownership

Lead the delivery of

large-scale or complex AMS initiatives

, including: Incident, problem, and release management Regression and UAT strategy design Vendor and implementation partner coordination End-user enablement and documentation Serve as a

cornerstone in incident resolution

, driving root-cause analysis and long-term remediation rather than short-term fixes.

Finance Transformation & Change

Lead

Finance Transformation initiatives

in collaboration with senior stakeholders such as: Financial Controllers Financial Reporting Treasury Drive: End-to-end process mapping and optimisation Control design and assessment Architecture of finance process automation Input into finance policy and operating model design Translate finance strategy into

Workday-led system solutions

that deliver measurable business value.

Delivery & Stakeholder Influence

Lead

medium to large-scale initiatives end-to-end

, breaking down complex problems into executable workstreams for other engineers. Influence technical and business decisions through

data-driven insights

, comfort with ambiguity, and pragmatic solution design. Communicate effectively with stakeholders across Finance and Technology, navigating organisational complexity with confidence.

People Leadership & Mentorship

Provide

technical guidance and mentorship

to other engineers and analysts. Raise team capability by setting standards, sharing best practices, and improving delivery efficiency. Act as a role model for technical excellence, ownership, and accountability.

What We're Looking ForEssential

5+ years' experience

in finance technology, enterprise systems, or related roles, with demonstrable senior-level responsibility. Proven experience as a

Workday Financials Architect / Senior Analyst / Senior Functional Consultant

. Hands-on expertise designing and configuring

complex Workday Financials solutions

. Experience with

Workday Adaptive Planning

. A recognised

financial qualification

(CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent). Deep operational finance knowledge across: Accounts Payable Procure-to-Pay Expenses Expert understanding of: Finance systems architecture Integration approaches and technologies Trade-offs between technical design choices Strong analytical capability with

advanced Microsoft Excel

skills. Ability to: Identify and define complex problems Perform root-cause analysis Lead pragmatic, high-impact solutions Balance long-term architecture with short-term delivery needs Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels. Strong sense of ownership and accountability for systems, services, and outcomes.
