Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Three-years tertiary qualification in chemistry, chemical engineering or water care.
Desired Qualifications: Four-years tertiary qualification in chemistry, chemical engineering or water care.
Managerial / Supervisory qualifications e.g. Certificate of Supervisory Management
Four years' experience in a water analysis laboratory,
Six years' industrial experience
One-year experience in a supervisory capacity.
Knowledge and experience in ISO systems and ISO Procedure Writing
Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, MS Project, and MS PowerPoint and SAP)
Computer literacy in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Valid Code 8 drivers licence

Primary Duties
Compile and manage the contract schedule and procurement plan for each bulk chemical.
Preparation of technical specifications and evaluation criteria for all bulk treatment chemical bids in line with operational requirements, SHERQ policies, legal stipulations, ISO and SANS standards.
Manage bulk chemical contracts by monitoring and capturing contract expenditure for each chemical (i.e. spending, quantity and rates analysis report).
Ensure the availability of relevant contractual agreements on the contract management system.
Develop and manage a backup contract document database for all contracts to facilitate workflow.
Participate in the execution of sourcing and testing alternate cost-effective products.
Implement and manage comprehensive supply risk mitigation strategy for each bulk treatment chemical to ensure that control measures are in place to mitigate quality and quantity risks.
Liaison link between bulk chemical suppliers and Rand Water sites to resolve challenges and delays associated with pricing, invoicing and payment issues.
Develop and manage the chemical contract communication matrix to facilitate contract management.
Participate in drafting of the chemical budget
Compile and communicate monthly and quarterly chemical variance reports.
Managing water quality data from sites by trending, identifying and reporting areas of concern or non-compliance to specifications that may have long term effects on Rand Water's infrastructure.
Attend and take minutes of any Rand Water technical meetings (as required) and all supplier liaison meetings, ensuring accurate records of any discussions and actions.
