Our client who provides underwriting management services to their clients are looking for a Senior Underwriter to join their team in Bedfordview,The best fitted candidate will have experience as an underwriter within the construction industry and a Civil Engineering degreeUnderwriter

• Must have engineering experience.
• Underwrite, rating and risk analysis and quote on new business.
• Feedback on market intelligence including trends in respect of cover and rates.
• Respond to queries and resolve them satisfactorily within scope of authority.
• General administration which entails following up on quotations and renewals, checking that policies are
• processed and sent out and corresponding with brokers.
• Time Management
• Underwriting (Endorsements, Amendments, Cancellations, Queries)

Requirements

• Must Have a Civil Engineering Degree
• Must have Matric
• Must be FAIS compliant or be prepared to study towards relevant Regulatory Examination and
• Insurance qualification.
• More than 5 years underwriting experience (This is NOT a data capturing/processing position)
• Must be able to analyse and assess risks.
• Must have attention to detail.
• Must be client focused and very service orientated.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must have good negotiation skills including initiative.
• Must be a team player.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft WORD and EXCEL.
• Product knowledge and knowledge of wordings is an advantage.
• This person will not issue policies and make amendments to policies on the system as that is the
• function of a processor.
• This person will be office bound and not go out to market
