REQUIREMENTS: o NQF Level 6 (National Diploma or equivalent qualification in an appropriate technical field). o Excellent hands-on technical skills with hydraulic machines and power tools. o Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organisational skills. o Good computer literacy. o a valid driver's license. o At least 5 years of related experience, 3 years of which should be in a supervisory position. ADVANTAGE: o registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician or Candidate Engineering Technician. o An appropriate Trade Test certificate. DUTIES: The successful applicant will report to the Principal Technician and be responsible for: o effective supervision of the Technical Assistant, Hydraulic Engineering. o carrying out investigations, overseeing and supporting teaching, learning and research activities in the hydraulics laboratories, on- and off-campus. o full compliance of the Hillman Building and its laboratory facilities to Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (OHS&E) protocols. o overseeing the manufacture, procurement and maintenance of laboratory equipment. o ensuring that workspaces in the hydraulics laboratories are clean, tidy and free of clutter. o additional duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of School. 'Laboratories' refers to (but is not limited to) all spaces in and around the Hillman Building designated for teaching, learning and research activities.
