Role PurposeThe key responsibility of this role is to provide technical product expertise for umbrella retirement and group insurance solutions. This includes providing legal and contract interpretation support, in-depth knowledge of product features, and the regulatory framework governing the design and functioning of these solutions. The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of product management and new product initiatives, in collaboration with the internal stakeholders.
RequirementsExperience and Qualifications

  • Actuarial or Commerce-related degree.
  • At least 10 years of Employee Benefit work experience in the South African markets.
  • In-depth understanding of the umbrella fund and group insurance market, products, and regulations.
  • Experience in drafting and interpreting pension fund and group insurance policy documents.
  • Experience with design thinking, lean implementation, and agile methodologies is advantageous.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Take leadership within the Product Solutions team of all technical product initiatives and be the subject matter expert that provides authoritative guidance to internal and external stakeholders, given the regulatory framework in which we operate.
  • Provide authoritative input into claim disputes and drive the control cycle of enhancing and clarifying policies to avoid future disputes and uncertainties.
  • Develop, plan, implement and take joint accountability for the strategy of product development and research, partnering with other product and pricing teams as well as distribution, in response to the Momentum Corporate strategy.
  • Collaborate with other teams (including the actuarial team, quotes, rate review teams, client services, disability management, marketing, digital client experience, IT and legal) to ensure that new products are solution-orientated and fit for purpose to clients and markets.
  • In partnership with the digital client experience and IT teams, ensure the development and maintenance of appropriate infrastructure (IT, distribution and support network, client services) required for the efficient operation and servicing of our products.
  • Investigate ways of improving the client experience to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Influence new business, marketing and communication support processes by signing off content on product development and research to improve perception, understanding and acceptance of innovative and new product work in the division.
  • Contribute to a service culture which builds rewarding relationships, proposes innovations and allows others to provide exceptional client service.
  • Ensure technical product and legislative knowledge is always current in order to propose the most relevant and innovative client solutions and comply with governance requirements. Drive continuous learning within Momentum Corporate, to ensure the wider business is up to date on any of these.
