The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the company's IT systems and infrastructure. The role ensures high levels of system availability, performance, and security while providing technical expertise for hardware, software, and network solutions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, storage solutions, and operating systems.
Monitor system performance and ensure the availability, reliability, and integrity of IT infrastructure.
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, hardware failures, and software malfunctions.
Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file servers, and backup/recovery systems.
Implement and maintain security best practices, including system hardening, patch management, and access controls.
Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
Collaborate with the IT team on network, cloud, and cybersecurity initiatives.
Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Provide Tier 2/3 support and mentorship to junior IT staff.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and business continuity efforts.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar systems engineering or infrastructure role.
Strong experience with Windows Server, Linux, VMware/Hyper-V, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
Proficient in scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools.
Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, and enterprise security solutions.
Industry certifications such as MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA Server+, VMware VCP, or AWS Solutions Architect are advantageous.
