SENIOR STORES OFFICER

RESPONSIBILITIES: To oversee and manage the Logistics Department's Stores Services for the maintenance workshop, ensuring the supply of maintenance spares and other commodities as required by the Department of Facilities Management - Technical Services*, while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Relevant National 3-year Diploma with at least 3 years relevant experience
OR
Grade 12 with at least 5 years relevant experience in:
+ Management and supervision;
+ Supplying and issuing stock;
+ Materials and logistics management;
+ Store administration, record keeping, and stock control. A valid driver's license.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):Knowledge of procurement methods;
Knowledge of store administration, record keeping, and stock control;
Knowledge of warehouse systems;
Ability to use computer literacy effectively;
Numerical ability;
Ability to convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals, either verbally or in writing, to ensure understanding;
Ability to use appropriate interpersonal skills and methods to reduce tension and resolve conflict;
Ability to take prompt action to accomplish objectives;
Ability to take action to achieve goals beyond what is required;
Ability to accomplish tasks and processes accurately and completely;
Ability to confer with others to reach a resolution;
Ability to explore alternatives and positions to reach outcomes that gain support and acceptance from all parties;
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with others;
Ability to build and maintain ongoing, collaborative working relationships with co-workers to achieve the goals of the work unit;
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients by listening to the client and responding to identified needs;
Ability to deal with others in difficult and complex situations to achieve resolution or adherence to laws and/or regulations.
ADDD ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:7 years' experience in one or more of the following:
+ Materials and Logistics Management,
+ Provision of stock for maintenance workshops,
+ Creating catalogue items in ERP systems,
+ Safety training,
+ Supervision/management of staff,
+ Computerised stock control systems,
+ Management of stores. Relevant Bachelor's degree.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
