Location: Rosebank

This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, utilizing programming languages specific to the chosen operating system (iOS or Android). The role is also responsible for focusing on creating user-friendly interfaces and seamless functionality, collaborating with designers and other team members to deliver a high-quality user experience to optimize business processes, enhance operational efficiency and ensure alignment with business goals and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to understand their needs, identify pain points, and define functionalities for the mobile app.
• Design the technical architecture of the mobile app, considering scalability, data integration with backend systems, and performance optimization
• Writing clean, efficient code to build mobile applications using relevant programming languages like Java, Kotlin (Android), Swift, or Objective-C (iOS).
• Implementing user interface designs, ensuring intuitive navigation and a visually appealing experience on mobile devices.
• Thoroughly testing applications on different devices and operating system versions to identify and resolve bugs and performance issues.
• Integrating with backend systems and external APIs to enable necessary app functionalities.
• Optimizing app performance to ensure fast loading times and smooth user interactions.
• Preparing and deploying applications to relevant app stores.
• Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive enterprise data on mobile devices.
• Addressing bug fixes, feature enhancements, and security updates for existing applications.
• Ensure that mobile apps comply with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
• Implement security measures to protect sensitive business data.

Qualifications

• An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors degree/Diploma or equivalent) in relevant IM Discipline

• It would be advantageous to have a postgraduate qualification in the related IM discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.

Certifications

• Valid EB/Code 08 driver's licence
• Mobile Application Developer certifications (Desirable)

Experience

• 5 - 7 years working experience in a similar role

Technical Knowledge

• Experience in mobile app development and management.
• Proven experience in project management, preferably with mobile app development projects.
• Proficiency in at least one mobile development language such as Java (Android), Swift/Objective-C (iOS), or cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, web services, and how to integrate mobile apps with backend systems (e.g., ERP, Analytics).
• Knowledge of database technologies like SQL and NoSQL to manage app data efficiently.
• Understanding of user interface design best practices and ability to create user-friendly mobile app layouts.
• Awareness of mobile security threats and best practices for protecting sensitive data.
• Experience with Git or similar version control systems to manage code changes.
• Familiarity with agile development practices to work in iterative development cycles.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to the mobile applications and systems promptly to minimize disruptions and downtime.
