Role Purpose/Business Unit:

To identify legal and commercial risks to Vodacom when entering into any relationship with customers or partners and to mitigate these risks in formal contracting between Vodacom and the other party.

Your responsibilities will include:

Contract Drafting, Negotiation and Finalization



Lead the end-to-end process of drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and concluding Customer, Partner, and Wholesaler Agreements. Ensure contracts are aligned with Vodacom's commercial objectives and legal standards. Apply advance legal and commercial acumen to structure agreements that mitigate risk and maximize value

Tender and Bid Support (Fixed Line and Mobile and IoT)



Provide expert legal and contractual input for all Vodacom Business Fixed Line and Mobile tenders Collaborate with bid teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal governance requirements Identify and address legal and commercial risks in tender documentation and responses.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management



Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across Legal, Sales, Finance, Regulatory, and Technology teams Act as a trusted advisor to business units on contractual matters, ensuring alignment with strategic goals Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to expedite contract lifecycle processes

Ad Hoc Legal and Contractual Support



Provide legal and contractual guidance on non-standard agreements such as Proof of Concepts (POCs), Trial Agreements, and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) Support innovation and new business models by enabling agile and compliant contracting solutions

Contract Governance and Risk Management



Ensure adherence to Vodacom's contract governance frameworks and approval processes Maintain accurate records of contractual obligations and ensure timely renewals, amendments, and compliance monitoring Proactively identify and escalate legal and commercial risks, proposing mitigation strategies.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

Advanced Legal and Commercial Acumen



Deep understanding of contract law, commercial principles, and regulatory frameworks relevant to the telecommunications industry. Ability to interpret complex legal language and translate it into practical business terms.

Strategic Negotiation and Influence



Proven ability to lead high-stakes negotiations with customers, partners, and vendors. Skilled in balancing risk mitigation with commercial opportunity, while maintaining positive stakeholder relationships

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication



Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. Adept at managing expectations, resolving conflicts, and facilitating consensus across cross-functional teams

Project and Contract Lifecycle Management



Strong project management capabilities, including planning, prioritization, and execution of multiple contract-related initiatives. Experience with contract lifecycle management tools and processes, ensuring efficiency and compliance

Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving



Ability to assess legal and commercial risks quickly and accurately, and to develop innovative, practical solutions. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex documentation and ensure contractual
accuracy.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Matric essential Formal legal qualification - 3 years Legal Degree as a minimum 5+ years contract management experience Contract management experience preferable in Telecom Industry
