Under the supervision of the Youth Development Manager (YDM), ensures effective case management by leading and consulting to a multi-professional treatment team.
In consultation with the YDM, develops and consults to senior child and youth care workers and social work teams according to GBT models and requirements
Communicates effectively, counsels, manages and supervises a designated child and family caseload as determined by campuses needs
Develops and grows the YDC Peer Group system, in consultation with the child and youth care worker team and advocates for and monitors self-governance within the family home setting.
Assumes the responsibility of the YDM on campus when the YDM is not available
Is available to do weekend Campus duties once or twice per month
Staffs and runs the Munster holiday camp on a rotational basis
A Bachelors degree in Social Work with a minimum of 8 years social work experience
Registration with the South African Council for Social Services Professions
Minimum 3 years experience in Residential Care.
Minimum 8 years experience in youth related work
3 - 5 years experience in managing or supervising social workers
Code 08 drivers licence, with own reliable transport
Personality, Attributes and Abilities
Sound knowledge of and experience in implementing the Childrens Act
Sound knowledge of the Norms, Standards and Practise Guidelines for Residential Care
Demonstrated and sound clinical youth-centred orientation.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Bilingualism (an indigenous language will be advantageous)
Ability to work in an environment with challenging youth.
Computer literate Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
