Division

One of the largest businesses within the Sanlam Group, Sanlam Corporate (SC) specialises in the provision of risk, investment and administration services to institutions and retirement funds. Focused on meeting the unique needs of its diverse clients, SC assists companies in creating and delivering customised employee benefits solutions, including the collection of premiums and communication to fund members.

The overall purpose of the role

The purpose of this role is to review risk rates for existing clients taking any changes in risk profile, experience and other relevant information into account whilst targeting a specified profit margin and expense charge. The purpose of the role is also to be responsible for the growth and coaching of junior team members daily.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review risk rates for existing clients concerning group risk products, taking any changes in risk profile, experience and other relevant information into account whilst targeting a specified profit margin and expense charge.
  • Obtains and analyses relevant information, premiums and claims for a specified period to perform accurate rate calculation.
  • Preparation and in-depth analysis and calculation of claims experience.
  • Evaluate the risk and apply sound judgement to set the final rates, medical free cover limit and the relevant terms and conditions.
  • Updating the systems with the latest revisions information.
  • Drafting of scheme review letters to clients.
  • Adhering to service and quality standards.
  • Provide support to distribution channels and brokers with queries regarding existing business with Sanlam Group Risk.
  • Provide excellent and professional after sales client service.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualification and Experience
  • Matric with Mathematics (minimum C symbol with regards to Mathematics - not Mathematics literacy)
  • Tertiary Qualification will be an advantage.
  • A minimum of 2 to 7 years' experience in a Group Risk environment with experience in a Group Risk pricing division such as a Group Risk Revisions or Group Risk Tenders team.
  • Previous experience in an Employee Benefits Group Risk environment will be a distinct advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent product knowledge and understanding of the Group Risk Industry and Pricing principles.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive for Business, MS SharePoint and MS Teams).
