Salary: Market-Related (Approx. R85 000 - R110 000 per month CTC)

Overview:
A leading infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer for a 12-18 month contract to oversee the rehabilitation of a major road project in Pretoria. The role requires significant site-based leadership, technical oversight of asphalt overlays, and management of night-time construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the implementation of all on-site construction activities, with a focus on night work.
• Monitor and supervise asphalt overlay and localised patching works across the carriageway.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and technical teams to maintain smooth project delivery.
• Manage project timelines, construction methodologies, and material usage.
• Conduct regular site inspections, reporting, and documentation.
• Review and approve contractor submissions, including method statements and progress reports.
• Attend progress meetings and provide input on technical and operational matters.
• Monitor compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
• Mentor junior site staff and assist in resolving site-related technical challenges.

Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering (BSc / BTech)
• Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) - Mandatory

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years' experience in road rehabilitation as a Senior Resident Engineer
• Proven track record with asphalt overlay and patching techniques
• Previous experience with site-based, night-shift roadworks is essential

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of civil engineering construction principles
• Technical expertise in road rehabilitation and materials (asphalt, stabilisation, etc.)
• Excellent planning, coordination, and leadership skills
• Proficiency in interpreting drawings and technical specifications
• Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Commitment to safety and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Ability to manage multiple site tasks and documentation effectively

Contract Specifics:

• Night work required throughout the construction phase
• Full-time site presence in Pretoria required for the duration of the contract
• Fixed-term contract with no guarantee of renewal beyond 18 months
