To lead on Legal aspects of public health research related to NCD prevention, the commercial determinants of health and nutrition
Location:
Wits School of Public Health, Parktown, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
Identify novel research methods and ideas
Attract research funding by identifying and applying for research grants in line with PRICELESS research strategy
Publish research in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, reports and present findings to stakeholders, the PRICELESS team and other groups including the media
Manage research projects from inception to completion
Write research protocols
Oversee the sourcing/ procuring of protocol-specific equipment and supplies as required
Clean and analyse data according to the highest standards, using appropriate software
Compile and contribute to conference presentations
Write and contribute to peer-reviewed publications
Disseminate research findings internally, to universities, to partners and other external stakeholders such the community and media
Manage and mentor junior researcher
Supervise students (Masters)

Required minimum education and training:
LLM, LLD or PhD in Health Policy
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum seven years working experience in a research environment
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Interest in constitutional law
Interest in administrative law
Interest in health and equity in South Africa
Experience in research methodologies
Published articles in peer-reviewed journals
Strong writing and presentation skills
Good conceptualisation skills
Experience in teaching
Attention to detail
Flexible and adaptive with a positive approach to taking on several duties
Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
