Division: Priceless SA
Main purpose of the job:

• To lead on Legal aspects of public health research related to NCD prevention, the commercial determinants of health and nutrition

Location:

• Wits School of Public Health, Parktown, Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

• Identify novel research methods and ideas
• Attract research funding by identifying and applying for research grants in line with PRICELESS research strategy
• Publish research in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, reports and present findings to stakeholders, the PRICELESS team and other groups including the media
• Manage research projects from inception to completion
• Write research protocols
• Oversee the sourcing/ procuring of protocol-specific equipment and supplies as required
• Clean and analyse data according to the highest standards, using appropriate software
• Compile and contribute to conference presentations
• Write and contribute to peer-reviewed publications
• Disseminate research findings internally, to universities, to partners and other external stakeholders such the community and media
• Manage and mentor junior researcher
• Supervise students (Masters)
• Uphold the values of Priceless SA

Required minimum education and training:

• LLM, LLD or PhD in Health Policy

Required minimum work experience:

• Minimum seven years working experience in a research environment

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:

• Interest in constitutional law
• Interest in administrative law
• Interest in health and equity in South Africa
• Experience in research methodologies
• Published articles in peer-reviewed journals
• Strong writing and presentation skills
• Good conceptualisation skills
• Experience in teaching
• Attention to detail
• Flexible and adaptive with a positive approach to taking on several duties
• Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
