Key role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Consulting Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and close-out of commercial refrigeration installations. This dynamic role covers the full spectrum of consulting services--from project inception and detailed design to documentation, procurement, construction oversight, and final project handover.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong track record in client engagement and leadership across refrigeration projects. While the primary focus is on refrigeration systems, the role may also extend to HVAC projects as needed.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Proficient in, heat load calculations.
Thorough understanding of South African National Standards (SANS - including 10147 & SANS 347), understanding of British Standards, ASHRAE, etc. will be advantageous).
Design, based on client requirements and specifications
Proficient in various modeling software and BIM conversant is essential (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, etc.)
Proficient in all project stages from inception through to close-out and competent in constructing and compiling tender documentation and management of that process.
Formulation of Bills of Quantities (BOQ's)
Specialist equipment specifications understanding and approvals
Quality control (QA/QC)
Site supervision and construction monitoring
Trouble shooting existing installations
Cost control (related to HVAC & R only)
Project scoping and scope monitoring
Contractor and contract management (mechanical Refrigeration and HVAC discipline)
Health and Safety :
Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company's health, safety, environmental, and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you
Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm
Embracing, displaying, and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times, whether in the office environment, on construction sites or in the general environment
Qualifications and Experience required:
Must have a B Eng / BSc / B Tech in Mechanical Engineering or have the relevant work experience to be deemed as a competent person through ECSA
Must be Professionally registered with ECSA
We would consider candidates who have been professionally registered, who have gone through the recognition of prior learning process
Must have minimum 5 years working experience in Refrigeration - Commercial
Must have experience related to commercial refrigeration design and commissioning however HVAC Mechanical experience will be advantageous
Suitable candidate can either be located in Johannesburg or Cape Town
Key Competencies and Generic Skills:
Computer literacy skills (e.g. MS packages)
Experience in various Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360 suite)
Must be self-motivated
Team player
Excellent communicator and good discussion and problem resolution skills
A self-starter who can run with and manage his own projects with the guidance of a senior engineer
Must be responsible and have a high level of self-sufficiency and be able to apply common sense
Must have a questioning and inquisitive mind
Code B drivers' licence (preferably own car)
Willing and able to travel abroad
