Job Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver strategic and complex projects within our Home Loans portfolio. This role will oversee end-to-end project management, drive transformation initiatives, enhance customer experience, and ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong banking knowledge, exceptional stakeholder engagement, and a solid understanding of the South African home loans market.
Key Responsibilities:

• Lead complex projects across the Home Loans portfolio, including new product implementations, process improvements, digital transformation, and compliance initiatives.
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements in collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.
• Engage and influence cross-functional teams (e.g., Credit, Legal, Risk, IT, Operations, and Compliance) to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
• Develop comprehensive project plans and manage project lifecycles using recognised project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid).
• Monitor and report on project performance, risks, costs, and timelines to senior leadership and governance forums.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements from the National Credit Act, FIC Act, and relevant SARB
• Drive change management and stakeholder communication strategies to support adoption and minimize disruption.
• Identify and resolve project issues and bottlenecks, applying strategic problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Mentor junior project managers and contribute to the maturity of the project delivery practice.

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree in Business Management, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
• Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile PM, or similar).
• 8+ years of project management experience, in the banking industry, preferably in Home Loans or Mortgage Lending.
• Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary projects with budgets over R5 million.
• Solid understanding of end-to-end home loan lifecycle including origination, approval, registration, disbursement, and account management.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong leadership and strategic execution abilities
• Advanced stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Deep knowledge of retail banking systems, credit policies, and lending regulations
• High proficiency in project planning tools (MS Project, Jira, Confluence, etc.)
• Analytical thinking and financial acumen
• Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously
• Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced, regulatory-driven environment

Preferred:

• Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA or similar)
• Experience in digital banking or fintech integration projects
• Working knowledge of South African deeds registry processes or bond registration systems
