Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive

Project Engineer

with

background in Urban Planning and experience in CALIFORNIA Real Estate/Construction

to oversee and support development projects from design through to construction.

This role focuses on reviewing plans, assessing site conditions, ensuring code compliance, and evaluating the feasibility of proposed projects. The Project Engineer will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that development projects meet all technical, regulatory, and safety standards across multiple jurisdictions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree

in

Civil Engineering

,

Architecture

, or a related field.

Urban Planning experience

Must have

experience working with Los Angeles, CA

or

California Real Estate/Construction

business and/or clients Strong knowledge of

CALIFORNIA

preferably

Los Angeles zoning laws, building codes, and local development regulations

across multiple jurisdictions. Proven experience in reviewing plans for compliancewithbuilding codesand zoning regulations Project Management and Team Management Background

Key Responsibilities:



Plan Review and Compliance:



Review architectural and engineering plans for compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and other jurisdictional requirements. Provide detailed feedback on design elements, identifying potential issues or non-compliance with codes and regulations. Ensure that all plans align with

technical standards

and project goals. Collaborate with project teams to revise designs based on compliance feedback and engineering best practices.

Site Analysis and Feasibility Studies:



Conduct detailed

site analysis

to evaluate development potential and identify technical constraints. Assess

zoning parameters

such as allowable uses, height restrictions, setbacks, and other zoning requirements specific to the site. Collaborate with the team to conduct

feasibility studies

, assessing the

technical constraints

and

opportunities

of development sites. Evaluate

local infrastructure capacity

and

impact fees

, assessing how these factors affect project viability.

Zoning Analysis and Variance Research:



Analyze and interpret site-specific zoning regulations, ensuring all development proposals are in compliance with

local zoning codes

. Research and identify potential

zoning variances

or

special permits

required for project approval. Review and interpret

zoning reports

and

historic preservation concerns

, ensuring that all potential restrictions are considered. Maintain knowledge of

zoning updates

and

building code revisions

across different jurisdictions.

Technical Document Review:



Review

technical documents

related to development projects, including

engineering reports

,

environmental assessments

, and

site surveys

. Provide

technical recommendations

based on document findings to ensure compliance and feasibility. Assist in

preparing reports

summarizing review findings, addressing any project discrepancies, and offering solutions for resolving compliance issues.

Collaboration and Coordination:



Work closely with

architects

,

planners

, and

contractors

to ensure design plans are feasible and aligned with regulatory requirements. Communicate regularly with project managers and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project timelines, deliverables, and compliance issues. Coordinate with local

planning departments

,

municipalities

, and

regulatory bodies

to ensure all approvals and permits are obtained.

Project Tracking and Reporting:



Track

project milestones

and

deliverables

, ensuring that compliance requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle. Report any

technical challenges

,

delays

, or

regulatory issues

to the project manager and propose solutions for overcoming challenges. Assist with

schedule management

and

budget forecasting

, ensuring compliance-related activities are incorporated into the overall project timeline.

Desirable Skills:



Experience working with

permit applications

and interacting with local

planning and building departments

. Knowledge of

environmental regulations

and the ability to assess environmental constraints that may impact development (e.g., flood zones, wetlands, fire hazard areas). Familiarity with

construction management processes

and understanding of

construction drawings

.

Adaptability

to different regulatory environments and the ability to quickly learn new local regulations.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: R97,86 - R195,72 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience:

Urban Planning: 3 years (Preferred) working with CALIFORNIA Real Estate/Construction business: 3 years (Required)
