Job Description

Main Purpose: Responsibility for process design aspects in the service and new plant field.

Key Performance Areas:

Technical

• Analyse clients specification and propose design concept.
• Perform boiler and component basic design and auxiliary equipment specification.
• Ensure design complies with relevant safety codes and client specification.
• Interface with client engineering department and sell the company's capabilities.
• Collect, analyse technical and operational data, evaluate and propose design changes.
• Analyse fuel data, evaluate and propose design changes.
• Remain abreast of technical developments in boiler technology.
• Knowledge of process parameter measurement technology and measurement standards.
• Use, review and develop standard design templates.
• Liaise with site construction/technical services engineers and identify problem areas.
• Develop and review operating procedures and works instructions.
• Provide first line contact with clients on boiler technical issues.
• Develop, review and present internal and external training material.
• Any other job related duties as required from time to time.

Management and reporting

• Write, review and approve technical reports.
• Ensure that project documentation records are filed correctly.
• Project management of multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
• Identify changes in the market and advise Group Leader/Technical Services Manager.

Staff and Management training and development

• Development and training of subordinates.
• Provides guidance and support to team members.
• Mentorship role in the development of Engineers in-line with corporate EE plan.

Controls

• Project control, code compliance, cost and time.
• Weekly time sheets.

Preferred Requirements:

• BEng or BSc Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 10 Years' working experience in a utility, industrial boiler or heat exchanger engineering and/or manufacturing and/or construction industry.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics and process control is essential.
• Knowledge of basic combustion reactions and emission reduction reactions, as well as water treatment processes would be advantageous.
• Working knowledge and experience with low NOx firing system design and implementation would be advantageous.
• Working knowledge of CFD would be advantageous.
