  • The Senior Account Manager delivers strategic input through providing communication solutions for clients and assisting the Account Director with new briefing proposals
  • The Senior Account Manager is responsible for management and implementation of PR campaigns and related events across a number of accounts, including media liaison and relations as well as client service (research, writing press material, and other related activities, as required)
  • The Senior Account Manager is responsible for managing workflow and quality of output of their own work as well as of junior members of the account management team i.e., Account Executives, Senior Account Executives, Account Managers
  • The Senior Account Manager takes on a leadership role managing downwards by supporting their teams review process as well as upwards to the Account Director and MD by providing updates and planning of client campaigns
  • The Senior Account Manager is expected to build excellent relationships with agency team, clients, and suppliers.
Client Service
  • Contribute significantly to the strategic development and tactical execution of public relations campaigns and demonstrate strong client service skills
  • Lead the effective implementation of PR campaigns that deliver on client requirements
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, building rapport quickly and maintaining and developing on-going and productive relationships
  • Proactively seek opportunities to contribute to client retention/growth and client satisfaction
  • Assist AD in providing counsel to clients
  • Have a thorough understanding of clients’ business, their industry, and the competitive landscape
  • Grow and develop clients’ business and ensure tasks are delegated where appropriate
  • Oversee regular client reporting – weekly, monthly, and quarterly
  • Develop and maintain successful relationships with key media partners.
New Business Development
  • Continually look to identify various client opportunities for the agency to grow its client base and opportunities for clients to grow their brands
  • Assist AD with researching and drafting of new client pitch proposals
  • Oversee targeted public relations strategies for clients.
Team Management
  • Assist AD in management of PR teams
  • Managing own and team members’ workflow and quality of output, providing work support
  • Guide the development of new press angles and opinion articles across clients
  • Assist with team’s identification of new media opportunities
  • Resolve conflict within team, agency and with clients
  • Stand-in for others where required and where reasonable to the point that it doesn’t affect current workload and where priorities are met.
Technical Skills
  • Be proficient in the agency’s PR tools, including Magnetic, as well as MS Office tools
  • Adheres to systems, processes and standards set, provides ideas for improvements if required
  • Considers problems on multi-faceted levels and makes logical informed decisions and gives feedback, e.g., identifying process efficiency’s, changes to admin process if necessary
  • Able to work on social media platforms: Blogger Relations, Facebook, Twitter; remaining current with new trends
  • Fluently translate offline PR activities to the online space, creating effective points of engagement between audience and client’s brand
  • Work produced has to be accurate at all times.

The successful candidate must have/be:
  • Relevant PR Tertiary Qualification
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a PR agency
  • Computer literate, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Web 2.0/ Social Media
  • Strong creative writing skills (for traditional PR and social media channels), with good media sell-in skills (essential)
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Media relations experience
  • Account management experience with strong client service skills
  • Financial acumen
  • Creative and innovative, ideas-orientated
  • Excellent English written/verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with strong service orientation
  • A problem-solving disposition (shows initiative)
  • Ability to manage stress and meet deadlines
  • People and team management experience
  • Willingness to travel, if required
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport.
