Job Summary Develop and design powertrain systems to meet performance, emissions, and durability standards, encompassing engines and related components Achieve performance optimization through simulation, testing, and data analysis, attaining desired torque, power output, and acceleration Seamlessly integrate emerging powertrain technologies like hybrid, electric, and alternative fuels to elevate efficiency and reduce environmental impact Ensure powertrain system compliance with safety requirements, regulations, and emissions standards, orchestrating testing programs including dynamometer and validation testing Collaborate across functions for streamlined powertrain integration into platforms, coordinating component sourcing through supplier partnerships Lead end-to-end powertrain projects, managing planning, resources, and timelines while tracking progress and ensuring on-budget delivery Produce comprehensive technical documentation and reports, bolstering product development, manufacturing, and regulatory alignment Nurture junior engineers through mentorship, fostering an innovative, collaborative environment to nurture professional growth Skills & Experience: At least 6 years of powertrain engineering expertise Proficiency in powertrain system design, analysis, and optimization using engineering tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) Comprehensive knowledge of internal combustion engines, drivelines, transmissions, and related components Familiarity with powertrain electrification, hybrid systems, and alternative fuels Strong grasp of industry regulations, emissions standards, and safety requirements Proven project management skills, including resource allocation, budgeting, and planning Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities for intricate engineering issues Effective communicator, collaborator, and mentor for cross-functional teams Leadership experience guiding junior engineers Committed to continuous learning and staying updated with powertrain advancements and industry trends Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
