Senior Portfolio Manager: Bancassurance and Telecommunication
Reports To: GM: Bancassurance and Telecommunication
As the Senior Portfolio Manager: Bancassurance and Telecommunication, you will act as the critical conduit between our organization and strategic partners within the portfolio. Your primary responsibilities will be to manage, grow, and maximize the value of key partnerships, design commercially sound business models and business cases for new and existing partners, and drive the implementation of strategies that increase revenue and profitability. You will lead the team to ensure the highest standards in partnership engagement, sales management, and operational execution.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
1. Strategic Partner Management & Business Model Innovation

  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and onboarding of new strategic partners, with a focus on developing business cases that ensure commercial viability and alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Design and negotiate partnership models, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies that maximize mutual value creation.
  • Act as the primary relationship manager for high-impact partners, ensuring effective communication, alignment of objectives, and long-term partnership health.
  • Continuously assess market trends, emerging business models, and competitor activities to inform partner and portfolio strategy.
Front-End Sales Management
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term sales strategies that support overall portfolio goals, revenue growth, and profitability.
  • Engage with executive leaders within partner organizations to discuss business challenges, strategies, and identify win-win sales opportunities.
  • Own and manage the pipeline: provide accurate, regular reporting and forecasting on partner performance, deal progression, and goal attainment.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and business cases to partners and internal stakeholders.
Partnership Development and Retention
  • Build and nurture professional relationships with senior decision-makers at current and prospective partner organizations.
  • Regularly engage partners through face-to-face meetings and executive reviews to understand needs, drive engagement, and reinforce value.
  • Oversee partner lifecycle management, including renewals, upsell/cross-sell opportunities, and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Ensure the delivery of agreed-upon services and KPIs, resolving issues swiftly and efficiently.
Operational Excellence & Commercial Delivery
  • Work collaboratively with partners to identify areas for operational synergy, revenue growth, and efficiency gains.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on partnership metrics- customer success, satisfaction, ROI, and growth potential.
  • Implement and maintain best-in-class governance structures for effective partnership management, risk mitigation, and compliance.
  • Lead or support negotiation of commercial terms and contract management.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, inspire, and manage a team of specialists and account executives to achieve targets and deliver high-quality results across partner accounts.
Set clear performance targets, monitor outcomes, and implement continuous improvement plans.
Identify and nurture talent; ensure team members receive ongoing training, mentorship, and career development support.
Optimize resource allocation to enable efficient portfolio delivery and partner support.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE?
  • NQF Level 7: Degree in Business Management
  • Postgraduate Degree in Business Management (advantageous)
  • RE5
  • Key Individual (Advantageous)
  • CFP (Advantageous)
  • 5 - 8 years Financial Services Industry Knowledge
  • 5 years Long term insurance experience
  • 3 years management experience
  • Experience in Insurance/Financial Services sector (preferred)
  • Must have a proven sales track record
  • Experience engaging with C-suite clients
  • Proven experience in building and managing strategic partnerships with key account organisations at executive levels.
  • Proven experience in driving sales revenue generation activities through effective partnership development and maintenance
  • Financial Services Industry Knowledge
  • Legal technical Knowledge (product related)
  • New and Existing business processes
  • Advanced understanding and application of the end-to-end Key Accounts Management function
  • Experience managing budgets and sales teams
  • Sound Long-term (Life) Insurance knowledge and experience
  • Strong insurance product knowledge (group benefits)
  • Proven track record on setting, achieving and exceeding sales targets
  • Extensive experience developing partnerships with
  • Ability to demonstrate past sales achievement in large and complex deals
  • Financial Services Industry Knowledge
  • Legal technical Knowledge (product related)
