Senior Payroll Manager

Job Description


We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Payroll Manager to oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for multiple companies, as well as our own large internal staff complement. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of South African payroll legislation, best practices, and experience managing weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll cycles. The Payroll Manager will lead a team of payroll professionals and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Management:
  • Oversee and ensure the accurate processing of payroll for clients and internal staff, including salaries, wages, bonuses, commissions, benefits, deductions, and statutory compliance.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of all tax returns (EMP201, EMP501, etc.), UIF declarations, and other relevant statutory filings.
  • Proactively stay up-to-date on changes in payroll legislation and tax regulations, ensuring continuous compliance.
  • Develop and implement efficient payroll processes and internal controls.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Supervise, mentor, and train the payroll team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and set goals to support team development.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Software Expertise:
  • Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in Accsys Peopleware payroll software for payroll processing, report generation, and system maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, addressing payroll inquiries and providing exceptional support.
  • Collaborate with the
and departments to ensure alignment of payroll data with overall business processes.Qualifications
  • Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive payroll management experience with demonstrated leadership success.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African payroll regulations, including PAYE, SDL, UIF, and relevant labor laws.
  • Advanced proficiency in Accsys Peopleware software.
  • Preferred:
  • Relevant qualification or certification in payroll management.
  • Experience managing payroll for multiple companies simultaneously.
