Introduction
Komatsu is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead our team at the Kolomela Operation. This is a critical leadership role for a results-driven professional with deep expertise in heavy earthmoving equipment and operational excellence within the mining sector.
We are looking for a leader who can drive strategic initiatives, optimize performance, and manage complex relationships with our Tier 1 mining customer.
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
10+ years of experience in the mining industry, specifically servicing Tier 1 mining customers.
5+ years of experience in a senior operational management role.
Demonstrated experience leading technical teams within the Heavy Earthmoving Equipment (HEE) industry.
Proven business and financial acumen.
Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of Komatsu products or equivalent heavy earthmoving equipment used in mining.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and SAP reporting.
Qualifications
B.Tech/B.Eng Degree (Mining, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering)
GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) certification. * Management Diploma/Certification (advantage).
Essential Skills
Strategic leadership and change management.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, particularly in complex contract discussions.
Experience in operations and process improvement.
The role:
As the Senior Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of operational management at Kolomela. Your key accountabilities include:
Strategic Planning: Translate organisational goals into actionable business plans and drive overall site strategy.
Operational Management: Oversee all site operations, including technical services, supply chain, inventory management, and warehousing.
Financial Stewardship: Manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure profitability across the depot/branch/customer segment.
Human Capital Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing technical team.
Key Account Management: Build and maintain strong business relationships with Tier 1 customers, lead contract negotiations, and manage key account sales.
Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE): Ensure stringent compliance and maintain a culture of safety.
Continuous Improvement: Analyze operational metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement efficiency strategies.
