An established investment fund management company is seeking an experienced Senior Operations and Finance Manager to take ownership of its operational and financial functions as the business expands its funds and portfolio across South Africa and the African continent.
This is a senior, full-time, hybrid role working closely with the partners and investment team, with significant exposure to portfolio companies, local and international investors, service providers, and regulatory bodies. The position is suited to a highly detail-oriented, financially strong, and operationally hands-on professional who thrives in a high-performance, impact-driven environment.
The Senior Operations and Finance Manager will be responsible for implementing, overseeing, and being accountable for all operational and selected financial aspects of the fund management business. This includes managing investment structures, fund reporting, governance and compliance, stakeholder coordination, and operational processes across multiple local and international entities.
Responsibilities
Operations, Finance & Fund Management
Implement, oversee, and manage operational functions across the fund management business.
Maintain and manage local and international investment and fund structures.
Oversee fund reporting, including financial and ESG reporting.
Manage internal governance, regulatory compliance, licences, and legal processes.
Oversee invoicing, drawdowns, receipts, and payments for both the funds and management company.
Manage operational processes relating to investments, distributions, and disinvestments.
Support portfolio company monitoring, reporting, and selected strategic operational involvement.
Stakeholder & Team Management
Manage and support the internal team on operational matters, including implementing effective systems, procedures, and controls.
Coordinate and manage external stakeholders, including:
Legal advisors (tax, exchange control, investment structures, company secretarial)
Regulatory bodies and licensing authorities
Accountants and auditors
Local and international investors (LPs)
Portfolio companies
Governance, Compliance & Reporting
Ensure full accountability for operational and relevant financial processes linked to investments, valuations (financial and ESG), and fund management.
Provide accurate, timely reporting to partners and investors.
Support fund-raising and fund management activities from an operational and governance perspective.
Requirements

• Employment Equity (EE) candidate.

• Minimum undergraduate degree in a finance-related field (essential).

• CA(SA), CFA, Honours degree, or other relevant professional accreditation preferred.

• At least 5 years' relevant experience in finance, fund management, operations, or a related environment.

• Strong analytical ability with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• High level of accountability, integrity, and attention to detail.

• Proven ability to manage projects, teams, and multiple stakeholders effectively.

• High proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Legal structuring knowledge and experience will be a strong advantage.
