Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture or a Master's in Yacht Design from a (South African Qualifications Authority) SAQA-accredited institution.
- Minimum 10 years' hands-on experience in marine or yacht design.
- Practical sailing experience and strong understanding of vessel operations.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD), AutoCAD (or equivalent) and MS Office (especially Excel).
- Familiarity with naval architecture analysis tools (FEA, stability software).
- Knowledge of South African maritime regulations (SAMSA) and international conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL).
- Registration (or candidacy) with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a professional engineer and/or membership of a recognised naval architecture body is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
