Job Summary
Minimum Requirements Qualified Mechanical Fitter (Trade Tested)
5-10 years' proven experience in mechanical maintenance
Strong knowledge of industrial machinery and rotating equipment
- Experience with preventative and breakdown maintenance
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on production machinery and plant equipment
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective breakdown repairs to minimize downtime
- Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance according to maintenance schedules
- Install, align, and commission mechanical equipment including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, shafts, and couplings
- Perform precision fitting, assembly, and dismantling of mechanical components
- Carry out basic machining, fitting, and fabrication tasks as required
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, lockout procedures, and maintenance best practices
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and job cards
- Liaise with maintenance planners, production teams, and external contractors
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability
