MECHANICAL ENGINEER

EPC/Turnkey Projects ("Silver book") Second edition 2017" published by the Federation Internationale Des

Ingenieurs - Conseils (FIDIC) and the "Particular Conditions" will be applicable and shall be used

7. Scope of Work:

Mechanical Engineer specializing in stormwater and pipelines would be responsible for designing, analysing, and maintaining mechanical systems related to stormwater management and pipeline infrastructure. This includes designing and selecting pumps, valves, and other mechanical equipment for stormwater systems, as well as assessing the integrity of pipeline systems. They would also be involved in hydraulic analysis, developing construction drawings, and ensuring that all systems comply with relevant regulations and standards

8. Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development: Choosing and specifying pumps, valves, pipes, and other mechanical components for stormwater management and pipeline systems.

Hydraulic Analysis: Performing hydraulic calculations to determine the appropriate sizing and functionality of stormwater and pipeline systems.

Construction Drawings: Developing detailed drawings and specifications for the construction and installation of mechanical systems.

Pipeline Integrity: Assessing the structural integrity of pipelines and identifying potential maintenance needs.

System Maintenance: Developing and implementing maintenance programs for stormwater and pipeline systems.

Compliance: Ensuring that all designs and systems comply with relevant regulations, standards, and codes.

Maintenance and Operations: Monitor the performance of mechanical systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective measures to ensure optimal efficiency and reliability.

Compliance and Regulations: Ensuring that installed systems are functioning correctly and meeting safety standards.

Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all mechanical designs and installations adhere to relevant regulations and industry standards.

Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.

Working with interdisciplinary teams: Collaborating with civil engineers, architects, and other professionals involved in stormwater projects.

Providing technical guidance: Assisting junior engineers and technicians with their tasks.

9. Qualifications and Experience:

BEng or MEng Mechanical engineering

Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech Eng

Minimum of 10 years' experience big diameter pipelines, valves, pumps and other related mechanical equipment

Proficiency in CAD software and piping design tools

Pipe stress analysis

Fluid dynamics

ASME standards

API standards

Project management

Material science

Mechanical design

10. Reporting Line:

The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Site Design Lead.

11. Performance Indicators:

Asset Integrity & Reliability, Inspection Completion Rate: Ensures all scheduled inspections are performed, including visual inspections, hydrostatic tests, and other non-destructive evaluations, to identify potential defects early.

Defect Discovery Rate: Measures the effectiveness of inspection programs in identifying defects (e.g., corrosion, cracking).

Compliance with Inspection Intervals: Ensures adherence to regulatory and company guidelines for inspection frequencies.

Unplanned Downtime: Measures the duration and frequency of unscheduled outages, highlighting areas where reliability can be improved.

Corrosion Monitoring: Tracks corrosion levels and effectiveness of corrosion control measures.

12. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

Ensure procurement practices align with HSE regulations and sustainability principles.

Maintain ethical procurement practices and prevent conflicts of interest.
