Job Summary Minimum Requirements: Essential: Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in a relevant engineering field. Proficiency in the MS Office suite with advanced knowledge. Advantageous: Possess a solid understanding of 3D CAD packages, particularly SolidWorks as well as an understanding of FEA Software, especially SolidWorks Simulation. Have a sound understanding of Engineering Calculations Software, such as Mathcad, MATLAB, or similar. Beneficial: Previous exposure to ASME VIII, API, and Class Rules (ABS and DNV) in relation to design and manufacture. Have a sound understanding of fabrication, boiler making/welding, and precision machining. Valid Drivers License and Vehicle. Duties and responsibilities: Oversee the design and manufacturing processes of specialised equipment and customer orders. Supervise and guide multiple projects, including personal projects, to ensure successful outcomes. Act as a mentor to junior mechanical engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support. Prioritise and maintain a strong commitment to safety, ensuring a safe working environment. Collaborate with Project and Mechanical Engineers, Field Service Technicians, and Subsea Engineers to gain comprehensive knowledge of Capital Drilling Equipment design, operation, inspection, and repair, as well as company processes and procedures. Manage in-house design and development activities, involving strength calculations, 3D CAD modelling, SolidWorks, and generating manufacturing data packs (BOMs, QCPs, Works Instructions, Manuals), while overseeing vendor management during fabrication. Participate physically in inspection and maintenance processes to gain practical understanding. Lead design and manufacturing projects from inception to delivery, handling aspects such as procurement, logistics, resource planning, scheduling, and data book generation. Provide expert technical advice and coaching to Technicians, including new recruits. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, practices, QC policies, procedures, and specifications. Effectively manage personnel, fostering positive communication and relationships within the team. Conduct detailed reporting and inspection report reviews, regularly updating Management and the Customer on project progress. Review engineering deliverables and implement corrective actions as needed, while also drafting new procedures when required. Always promote and enforce safe work practices.
