Job Description

Redheads Engineering Solutions is currently seeking a skilled Senior Materials and Pavement Engineer to join their prestigious client in Cape Town permanently.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications.
Responsibilities: In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting the Roads/Highways division with various tasks, including materials investigations, pavement engineering, tender document preparation, and project contract administration. Travel within South Africa or potentially across Africa might be required.
Key Responsibilities:
Materials Investigations:

• Coordination of small tenders for survey and soils laboratories.
• Planning and execution of BP investigations and centreline surveys.
• Conducting general trial pitting and collaborating with soils laboratories.
• Preparation of detailed materials reports.

Pavement Engineering Tasks:

• Visual inspection of gravel and surfaced roads.
• Support in pavement and pavement rehabilitation design.
• Analysis of materials results and performing thorough pavement analysis.
• Assisting in traffic data collection and subsequent analysis.
• Conducting economic analysis as required.

Tender Documents:

• Assisting in the comprehensive preparation of tender documents.

Contract Administration:

• Overseeing contract administration for diverse projects.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a BSc or BEng degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration is mandatory.
• A Masterxe2x80x99s degree in Pavement Engineering would be advantageous.
• A valid driverxe2x80x99s license is necessary.

Experience:

• At least 10 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a similar role.
• Demonstrated experience in devising innovative technical solutions.
• Proven capability in mentoring and guiding junior staff.
• Extensive senior project management experience.
• Strong experience in client liaison.

Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and MS Project is essential.
• Strong technical skills in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Rubicon, and HDM4 are prerequisites.
