A specialist marine engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Marine Geotechnical Engineer to lead marine and coastal geotechnics from their Cape Town office.
This role is ideal for a geotechnical professional who thrives on complex marine soils challenges, advanced analysis, and independent delivery of high-end technical work.
You will become the lead in South Africa for the geotechnical discipline, working closely with structural and coastal teams to deliver world-class marine infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead marine geotechnical investigations and design for ports, waterfronts, reclamation, piling, breakwaters, and coastal foundations.
- Interpret CPT, lab tests, borehole data, geophysics, and bathymetry.
- Deliver foundation design, settlement modelling, slope stability, liquefaction, cyclic loading analysis, and ground improvement solutions.
- Prepare high-quality geotechnical interpretive reports.
- Provide geotechnical support during construction and review contractor submissions.
- BSc/BEng in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (MSc preferred).
- Registered Pr Eng (or eligible within 6-12 months).
- 7-12 years' experience in geotechnical engineering, with marine/coastal experience essential.
- Proficiency in PLAXIS, SLIDE, Settle3, LPILE, or similar.
- Ability to work independently and take full technical responsibility.
- Lead geotechnical specialist for SA
