A specialist marine engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Marine Geotechnical Engineer to lead marine and coastal geotechnics from their Cape Town office.
This role is ideal for a geotechnical professional who thrives on complex marine soils challenges, advanced analysis, and independent delivery of higha??end technical work.
You will become the lead in South Africa for the geotechnical discipline, working closely with structural and coastal teams to deliver worlda??class marine infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead marine geotechnical investigations and design for ports, waterfronts, reclamation, piling, breakwaters, and coastal foundations.
- Interpret CPT, lab tests, borehole data, geophysics, and bathymetry.
- Deliver foundation design, settlement modelling, slope stability, liquefaction, cyclic loading analysis, and ground improvement solutions.
- Prepare high-quality geotechnical interpretive reports.
- Provide geotechnical support during construction and review contractor submissions.
- BSc/BEng in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (MSc preferred).
- Registered Pr Eng (or eligible within 6-12 months).
- 7-12 years' experience in geotechnical engineering, with marine/coastal experience essential.
- Proficiency in PLAXIS, SLIDE, Settle3, LPILE, or similar.
- Ability to work independently and take full technical responsibility.
- Lead geotechnical specialist for SA
