Our client is a multi-specialist investment company in 10 African countries with business partners
in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. As one of the largest investment managers in South Africa, the company employs a wide range of professional and specialist investment and technical staff. Staff compliment countrywide is nearly 600. They have a diverse investment offering designed to deliver on their investment promise to their clients.
The prior person has left to start a business - but was happy and smiling and busy in the space. This is not a back office role. You need subject matter expertise - the ability to manage a team -client services and administrative teams and be a strong relationship person as you will be involved with prestige clients in the broker space. So you must be able to straddle both worlds -middle office and front office, with ease!
JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to develop tactical strategy and delivery plans, formulate associated practice/s and to ensure operational implementation and adaption i.t.o. operations and administration methodology, governance and delivery objectives;
  • Process:
  • You will be required to communicate a meaningful tactical context that guides and directs best practice integration and process alignment with service delivery objectives;
  • You will be required to partner with next level managers and specialists to ensure effective practice management through multiple process design and integration;
  • You will be required to Manage operations and administrative services by implementing business plans and executing initiatives and projects to support the related strategy.
  • Develop a common distribution approach with proposition by channel that leverage infrastructure across operations and administrative services.
  • Contribute to the continual innovation of operational and admin. business activities, processes and systems in service of performance enhancement.
  • You will be responsible for strategy implementation through the integration and optimisation of operational activities to practices and systems across an internal value chain;
  • You will be required to proactively identify interconnected tactical problems, determine the impact, patterns and trends to identify alternatives and best practice solutions, anticipating future challenges;
  • You will be required to plan for delivering work outputs, manage independent practices, processes or systems and address and balance the demands of different priorities to optimise efficiency;
  • Customer
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships for the purposes of expectation management, knowledge sharing
  • and integration.
  • Build strong customer-centric relationships and develop service level agreements that promote the organisation
  • with stakeholders aligned to Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) principles.
  • Finance:
  • You will be required to compile an operational or business area budget aligned with the delivery plans and ensure the implementation and monitoring of financial controls, management of costs and corporate governance to optimise cost savings and / or profit margins;
  • Learning and growth:
  • You will be required to balance, optimise and manage human resources across disciplines through executed human capability plans;
  • Governance:
  • You will be required to implement the governance management model, framework and policy in own practice and / or tactical areas to identify and manage governance and risk exposure liability proactively.
CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  • You have analytical thinking skills (proficient);
  • You have strong governance, ethics and values (proficient);
  • You have excellent communication (verbal and written) skills in English with impact (proficient).
CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • You have a bachelor`s degree and advanced diplomas as a minimum;
  • You have a minimum of 8 years current, relevant experience in a similar environment, of which 2 - 3 years at management level; and an outstanding track record of managing people; systems and understanding relationships;
  • You are proficient in operations risk management; and related matrixes
  • You are proficient in operations management as it pertains to the RETAIL investment space - and so IFA's and outsource partners too! You are a high energy person who enjoys doing things right and leading a team to realise their best efforts and working toward excellence in every day work output. You are happy to manage problems and find resolutions - and try to prevent same. You will be well rewarded for this important role.
