Manage interaction with the port's stakeholders andvisiting delegations, manage the development and execution of a marketing operating model, outline customer assetmanagement and performance metrics and build a customer eco-system, driving experience reliability & innovation andBuilding leadership, accountability, and service driven culture within the organisation.Position outputs:Manage the research, development, and innovation operating model for the port in alignment with the TNPA operatingmodel and Transnet research and Development Strategy.Develop and promote partnerships with local, regional, national, and international academic institutions to conduct researchon maritime related topics and any other sustainability or special project topics.Manage the register of all research, development and innovative solutions and initiatives and provide feedback to the PortExecutive CommitteeWork closely with industry associations like Freight Forwarders, Port Liaison Forum, Department of Economic Opportunitiesin the KwaZulu Natal, Cargo Owners, KZN Business Chamber of Commerce, SAASOA on various measures to improve thePort of Durban global competitiveness, security, Customer Value creation,Shared value creation and Shareholder Valueand undertake scenario planning to improve Port City global competitivenessUse the information from Research and development to form initiatives and include innovative ideas to inform the MarketingStrategy which will increase Customer Value Creation in the Port.Scrutinise and analyse the global and regional trends per commodity and develop and execute New Business Developmentinitiatives.Manage innovation projects based on the port's InnovationPipeline to ensure performance expectations and Department objectives are met timely with the highest level of quality.Use the information from various shipping journals (Clackson, Drewry Shipping Consultants and UNCTAD Reports) to mapglobal trends and frame and inform the strategic direction of the port.Manage the process of collecting data on the shipping company's business intelligence as well as port's businessintelligence across all commodities.Work Closely with the other Departments on Data Analytics to provide basis of informing the development of a port strategyand port development framework plans.Manage the process of synergy and smooth flow of systems and processes in the entire value chain to reduce the cost ofdoing business and ensure the smooth flow of inbound and outbound freight through the port.Prepare and communicate the Research & Innovation product vision, new technologies, product ideas, and new ingredientsto higher management and to cross-functional teams to bring a proactive thinking regarding service offering and productdevelopment.Manage performance, talent management and successionplanning to the Research Development and Innovation team, Business Strategy team, Customer Relations ManagementTeam, and New Business Development Team.Develop the Port of Durban's strategy, considering theoverarching Transnet strategy and TNPA operating model.Develop a marketing strategy with the emphasis on stakeholder engagement for the Port of Durban.Manage the process of developing a corporate plan for the port and monitor the execution of corporate plan initiatives. Co-ordinate with the relevant stakeholders (internal and external) to facilitate the implementation of the marketing strategyand CRM strategy to increase customer value creation.Develop the 'roadmap' for delivery of the strategic initiatives and manage the roll out of the TNPA Operating model.Port of Durban EXCO, TNPA Head Office and the Transnet Group of threats and opportunities with a view of ensuringbusiness is prepared and has a plan to address risks.Manage Section 56 and Section 79 projects, to respond togovernment strategic objectives of promoting transformation, alleviating poverty, growing the economy and reduceunemployment.Manage programmes to increase shareholder value .Represent the Port when liaising with relevant Transnet,Government Authorities and other external stakeholders when required on strategic issues.Co-ordinate and manage all activities emanating from the Port Consultative Committees, National Port ConsultativeCommittee.Investigate and explore various digital marketing techniques to understand and address customer needs.Manage programmes to develop and publish monthly volumes statistics for all commodities in the port.Qualifications & Experience:Honours Degree or BTech in Marketing, Honours or BTech in Maritime Studies or Economics or Finance or EquivalentQualification.Post Graduate Studies in Port Economics or equivalent10 years relevant experience with at least five years' experience in a management role.International exposure and participation at International Port and Maritime forums will be an advantage.Competencies:KNOWLEDGE:Broad business acumen.Business strategy development and review.Budgeting and financial analysis.Business management.Research and DevelopmentGeneral familiarity with all relevant legislation, including PFMA, NPA, Companies Act etc.Risk assessment and risk management concepts and frameworks.Technical knowledge of port operations management.Understanding of transport regulatory environment.Understanding of the Transnet environment.Understanding of strategic, functional, operational, or technical skills.Regional integration.Understanding of ICT principles.Understanding Customer relationship management.SKILLS:Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Data Management.Entrepreneurship skills.Excellent Analytical skills.Able to meet deadlines.Decision-making and proactive thinking.
