Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Legal and Compliance Advisor to join our team. The Senior Legal and Compliance Advisor will be required to support the business with general and commercial legal advice / guidance on a broad range of high impact business initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drafting, reviewing and assisting with the negotiation of various commercial agreements
• Providing legal advice and opinions on various matters
• Advice and assistance on effective new legislative enactments, amendments and matters affecting the fintech and payment space
• Working knowledge of technology, artificial intelligence, crypto, information security, company, tax and consumer legislation, including the National Credit Act (NCA), the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)
• Facilitate dispute resolution and litigation process
• Mergers and acquisitions
• Management and advice regarding trademarks, copyright and design matters
• Draft, implement and maintain the necessary policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, industry best practice and parent-company requirements
• Pro-actively fully understand and be able to communicate and advise on pending legal changes/Acts that will affect Flash
• Working knowledge of company secretarial procedures

Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Undergraduate degree (BA, BAcc, BCom or BSc)
• A post-graduate LLB
• Additional post graduate qualification in commerce and/or technology would be preferred
• Completed articles at top 5 firms
• Admitted attorney
• 4-5 years' post qualification experience in legal, compliance and/or finance

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Experience in fintech, information technology, telecommunications, data protection and privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, financial services and software development
• Experience in contract drafting and negotiation
• Advisory experience
