The Department of Strategic Communication is part of the School of Communication in the Faculty of Humanities. The Department offers several undergraduate programmes from a 2-year extended Diploma to a 3-year undergraduate diploma in Public Relations and Communication Management, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Communication Management. The 3rd year Diploma in Public Relations and Communication Management has a critical Work-Integrated Learning component meant to prepare students for the industry.
At the Degree levels, the Department offers an Extended Degree, a 3-year undergraduate Degree; BA with Specialisation in Strategic Communication, BA Honours in Strategic Communication, Masters by coursework and research as well as a PhD in Strategic Communication.
The Department plays a critical role in the University, Industry and the broader society by contributing to the growth of scholarship and practice of Strategic Communication nationally and internationally. The Department seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer on a permanent contract. The incumbent will teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise, produce research at a high level, and contribute to academic citizenship.

Responsibilities:


Teach theoretical and practical courses across the year groups from undergraduate to postgraduate; Course coordination, curriculum development and associated administration; Publish in peer-reviewed, accredited publications; Recruit and supervise postgraduate students, including post-doctoral fellows; Build and maintain national and international external partners, including within the industry.

Minimum requirements




A relevant Doctoral degree in Strategic Communication or a related field Publication and research track record commensurate with senior lecturer level Teaching experience Experience in postgraduate supervision at honours and master's level The ability to cross-teach Strategic Communication, Marketing, Corporate Communication as well as Public Relations and Communication Management. Familiarity with various research approaches, including quantitative methods Various teaching and learning pedagogies Strategic Communication and related fields subject-specific knowledge
