Job Description

A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Senior IT Technician to join its IT team and provide high-level technical support across the business. This is a full-time, office-based role within a structured IT department supporting multiple sites and a large end-user base.
The role is suited to a technically strong, hands-on IT professional with solid experience in servers, networks, and enterprise Microsoft environments. The successful incumbent will play a critical role in maintaining system stability, security, and service levels in a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities
Provide advanced technical support for hardware, software, and network-related tickets, ensuring closure within agreed SLA timeframes.
Perform root cause analysis when troubleshooting complex technical issues.
Support enterprise-level systems and applications including Microsoft 365, Power Apps, Azure, and on-site server environments.
Conduct daily server health checks using RMM software to ensure optimal system performance.
Liaise with suppliers and service providers to follow up on logged tickets and technical faults.
Maintain and administer server storage solutions and network devices.
Ensure the security, integrity, and availability of the organisation's IT infrastructure.
Perform regular system updates, patching, and backups.
Monitor, respond to, and manage security incidents and threats.
Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards.
Maintain and administer the PABX system, including adding and configuring desk and cordless phones.
Provide end-user support and education on existing and new technologies.
Develop and maintain IT documentation, internal procedures, and user guides.
Ensure all IT issues are formally logged before support is provided.
Maintain a minimum 98% SLA on critical and downtime-related tickets.
Assist with network planning and keep LAN and WAN documentation up to date.
Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software solutions.
Support the ongoing development and optimisation of the Microsoft ecosystem, both on-site and cloud-based.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Information Systems or Diploma in a related IT field, or equivalent certifications.
Relevant Microsoft certifications such as:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, and
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, or
Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert.
4-6 years' experience in a similar senior IT support role.
Strong IT support background with solid TCP/IP and networking knowledge.
Hands-on experience with servers, firewalls, share drives, and network infrastructure.
Experience with hypervisors, managed switches, and enterprise firewalls.
Strong desktop support and Microsoft 365 administration experience.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, office-based role with no hybrid or flexible working arrangements.
Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 08h00 - 16h45, and Fridays, 08h00 - 15h15.
The IT team consists of three members: IT Manager, Senior IT Technician, and IT Technician.
The team supports approximately 120 end users at the Cape Town site and 40 end users at a Johannesburg site.
The role requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
