About the role





As the

Senior ISP Network Engineer

, you will serve as a key technical expert in designing, implementing, and maintaining our ISP network infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on leveraging the Carrier Network to deliver high-performance, reliable, and secure connectivity solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including network architects and security specialists, to optimize network performance and drive innovative solutions aligned with our strategic goals.

Key duties and responsibilities

:



ISP Network Design and Implementation:

Lead the design and deployment of complex ISP network solutions, emphasizing high-speed connectivity and scalability. Collaborate with network architects to translate ISP business requirements into efficient technical designs that ensure seamless integration with the Carrier Network. Oversee the configuration and deployment of critical ISP network devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.



ISP Network Optimization and Performance:

Proactively monitor ISP network performance, identifying and resolving issues related to latency, bandwidth, and congestion. Develop and execute optimization strategies to enhance network efficiency and improve user experience. Work with network operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve high-level ISP-specific issues. Manage Reflex and other ISP ASNs together with the Network Architecture Team. Manage Reflex and other ISP IP ranges to ensure optimal utilisation. Manage the Reflex interfaces to the Internet, including Peers and IPT



ISP Network Security and Compliance:

Partner with security teams to implement robust security measures tailored to ISP environments, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements specific to ISP data privacy and security. Ensure that our external interfaces are adequately protected against threats such as intrusions and DDoS attacks.



Documentation and Reporting:

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for ISP network configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations on network performance and improvements for management and stakeholders. Keep documentation current to reflect the latest network changes and configurations.



Vendor and Stakeholder Management:

Collaborate with vendors and service providers to evaluate and select networking solutions tailored for ISP needs. Manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal support and timely resolution of technical issues impacting the ISP network.



Emerging Technologies and Innovation:

Stay informed about emerging technologies relevant to ISP networks and evaluate their potential organizational impact. Recommend and implement new technologies and solutions that enhance ISP network infrastructure. Lead proof-of-concept projects to assess the feasibility and benefits of innovative ISP networking technologies.



Qualifications and Required Competencies:




Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in ISP networking, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering role. Proven track record in designing and implementing complex ISP network solutions. ITIL certification and project management experience are preferred. Relevant certifications required: + HCIA and/CCNA
+ HCIP and/or CCNP
+ JNCIE, HCIE and/or CCIE certificate (required)







Technical Expertise:




Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols, routing, switching, and network security principles. Expertise in technologies such as Spanning Tree, IGP, BGP, MPLS, and EVPN VXLAN. Experience with CGNAT, BNG, SPlinkx, and RADIUS. Familiarity with network design and modeling tools like Cisco Packet Tracer or GNS3. Knowledge of network virtualization, software-defined networking (SDN), and cloud networking concepts. Proficiency in scripting languages and experience with optical transmission equipment are advantageous. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex network issues. Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex ISP concepts.
