On the hunt for a Senior Internal Auditor (Supervisor Specialist) - Insurance in JHB!
This is a specialist role built for a technically strong Internal Auditor ready to step into a strategic QA and supervisory capacity. Sitting within Group Internal Audit at a leading insurance group, this role merges technical rigour with forward-thinking risk strategy. It's your chance to influence not just controls and compliance - but also the innovation and evolution of audit itself.
You'll take ownership of internal quality assessments, develop audit standards, and lead complex, high-risk audits across all functions. With direct exposure to senior executives and a seat at the table for special investigations, your insights will shape assurance strategies, risk governance, and overall business improvement.

Duties:

• Oversee and execute internal quality reviews to ensure alignment with IIA Global Standards.
• Implement and maintain the Quality Assurance Improvement Program (QAIP)
• Identify and action continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
• Track and report on remediation plans following quality assessments.
• Lead high-risk internal audits from planning through reporting
• Review working papers and mentor junior auditors
• Evaluate control systems across actuarial, reinsurance, underwriting, claims, finance, and IT.
• Conduct fraud risk reviews, investigations, and advisory projects.
• Present findings to senior leadership and the Board.
• Engage in combined assurance with Compliance, Risk, and External Audit.
• Monitor regulatory changes and emerging risks.
• Contribute to audit innovation, data analytics, and automation.
• Provide support to the Head of Internal Audit as needed.

Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• BCom or BCom Honours in Internal Audit or equivalent.
• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) - Non-negotiable.

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years' experience in Internal Audit.
• Preferably with exposure to financial services or insurance industries.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong technical knowledge of IIA Global Standards.
• Skilled in stakeholder engagement, reporting, and team leadership.
• Critical thinking, innovation, and independent judgment.
• High attention to confidentiality, integrity, and objectivity
• Proficiency in audit tools (e.g., TeamMate, CaseWare) and analytics (e.g., ACL, IDEA, Power BI).
• Adaptable, reliable, and proactive with strong time management.
